Body and health
- Body: la tête, le nez, la bouche, la gorge, le dos, le bras, la main, la jambe, le genou, le pied, l'œil (les yeux).
- Avoir mal à: au (masculine), à la (feminine), à l' (vowel), aux (plural): J'ai mal au dos. J'ai mal à la tête. J'ai mal aux pieds.
- Illness: Je suis malade. J'ai de la fièvre. J'ai la grippe. J'ai un rhume. Je tousse. Qu'est-ce que vous avez? Il faut se reposer.
- At the doctor: un médecin, une ordonnance, un médicament, un rendez-vous, la pharmacie. Depuis + present = for/since.
The imperative
- Use the tu, nous or vous form of the present without the subject: Finis! Finissons! Finissez!
- -er verbs drop the s in the tu form: Parle! Mange! Va!
- Irregular: être (sois, soyons, soyez), avoir (aie, ayons, ayez).
- Negative: ne ... pas around the verb: Ne parle pas! N'attendez pas!
Pronouns with commands
- Affirmative: after the verb with hyphens (me → moi, te → toi): Donne-moi le livre. Lève-toi. Mange-le. Vas-y.
- Negative: before the verb: Ne me regarde pas. Ne le mange pas. N'y va pas.
