AP Biology / Unit 2: Cell Structure and Function
2.1 Cell Structure and Function
Notes
- Ribosomes: make proteins (all cells).
- Rough ER: ribosomes, makes proteins for secretion or membranes. Smooth ER: lipids, detox.
- Golgi: modifies, sorts and packages proteins.
- Mitochondria: cellular respiration. Chloroplasts: photosynthesis.
- Lysosomes: digestion. Vacuole: storage, turgor in plants.
Practice
A cell that secretes many digestive enzymes would have lots of:
Proteins made and shipped out.
Which structure is found in all cells?
Even prokaryotes have them.
The folded inner membrane of the mitochondrion increases:
More room for the electron transport chain.
