AP Physics 2 / Unit 10: Electric Force, Field, and Potential
10.3 Electric Fields
Notes
$$\vec E=\frac{\vec F}{q},\qquad E=k\frac{q}{r^2}$$
- Field lines point away from positive and toward negative charges.
- Between parallel plates, the field is uniform.
Practice
A 2 μC charge feels 0.01 N. The field:
$\displaystyle \frac{0.01}{2\times10^{-6}}$.
Electric field lines point:
The direction a positive test charge moves.
An electron in a field pointing right experiences force:
Negative charge, opposite force.
