Spanish 2 / Unit 6: Direct and Indirect Object Pronouns
6.1 Direct Object Pronouns
Notes
The direct object answers "what?" or "whom?" after the verb. A direct object pronoun replaces it.
| Person | Singular | Plural |
|---|---|---|
| 1st | me (me) | nos (us) |
| 2nd | te (you) | os (you all) |
| 3rd | lo (him, it), la (her, it) | los (them), las (them) |
- Lo / la / los / las match the gender and number of the noun they replace.
- Example: Compro el libro. → Lo compro. Veo a Ana. → La veo.
- Use the personal a before a person direct object: Veo a Ana.
Practice
Replace the noun: "Leo la novela."
Novela is feminine singular, so la.
Replace the noun: "Compramos los boletos."
Boletos is masculine plural, so los; the verb stays nosotros.
¿Me ves?
The question has me, so the answer uses te for "you".
