6.5 The Conditional Tense
Notes
The conditional says what would happen. Add the endings to the whole infinitive.

- Irregular stems (same as the future): tendr-, podr-, pondr-, saldr-, vendr-, har-, dir-, sabr-, querr-, habr-.
- Yo haría más ejercicio. / Ellos dirían la verdad.
- Politeness: ¿Podrías ayudarme? (Could you help me?) / Me gustaría un café. (I would like a coffee.)
- Advice: Yo que tú, estudiaría más. (If I were you, I would study more.)

Gustaría in the conditional is a polite way to say "would like."

Poder has the stem podr-, plus the conditional ending -ían.
