6.5 Double Pronouns with Infinitives and Gerunds
Notes
Two pronouns can attach to an infinitive or gerund. Add an accent so the original stress stays.
- Voy a dártelo or Te lo voy a dar.
- Quiero escribírselo or Se lo quiero escribir.
- Estoy mostrándotelo or Te lo estoy mostrando.
- Clarify se with a + person: Se lo doy a ella.
Practice
"Quiero mandarte la carta." Replace "la carta" with a pronoun attached to the infinitive.
Indirect te comes first, then la, and an accent keeps the stress on man.
"Quiero escribir la carta a Pedro." Replace both "la carta" and "a Pedro" with pronouns attached to the infinitive.
Le + la = se la; attach to escribir with an accent: escribírsela.
Why is "se lo doy" ambiguous?
Add a + person (a ella, a ustedes) to clarify.
